Since Chris Moneymaker, everyone knows that all it takes to get
into the World Series of Poker is some skill, $10, and a dream. It
might take a bit of luck too, but the fact is that online qualifiers
for the WSOP are here to stay. I'm writing this on December 11,
2005, because the World Series of Poker is actually coming up faster
than you might think. My intention is to keep folks abreast of which
online poker rooms are offering qualifiers and when. I'll update
this page as often as I can, but I make no guarantees that the
information here remains valid.
Caribbean Sun Poker Qualifiers
The folks at
Sun Poker have put together qualifiers for the WSOP. The winner gets the buy-in for the main event ($10,000) plus $3,000 for 15 nights hotel stay at the Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino. And on top of that they receive $2,000 in spending money.
Plus the poker room is running a $200,000 freeroll, and if you bust out before Day 3 of the WSOP, you are entered in to the freeroll.
Buy-ins for the Sun Poker satellites start at $6.75.
Bodog Poker Qualifiers - WSOP 2006
Bodog has qualifiers and sub-qualifiers that you can get into for
as little as $1.50. I've played quite a bit at Bodog over the last
year, and I think in terms of soft competition, Bodog Poker is
probably going to give you your best shot at the World Series of
Poker. You can read my
review of Bodog Poker here, or you can see information about all
of
Bodog Poker's tournaments here.
BugsysClub 10k Warm Up
Bugsys Club has already scheduled their tournaments that qualify
for the World Series of Poker. These tournaments involve qualifying
in rounds 1 and 2 and winning one of the round 3 events.
Structurally these are similar to the ways that the first few rounds
of the main event at the World Series of Poker are set up. The final
rounds aren't being held until the middle of 2006.
Absolute Poker World Series of Poker Qualifiers
Absolute Poker was one of the first poker rooms online this year
to start offering qualifiers to the WSOP for 2006. I'm not a big one
for waiting around for my shot, so I'm excited that Absolute already
has an opportunity for us to get in. Every Sunday night you can play
a $100 + $8 tournament to win your entry into the World Series of
Poker. And you can qualify for that Sunday night tournament by
playing smaller SnG tournaments or smaller multi table tournaments.
Ultimate Bet Poker
I heard today from another buddy of mine that you can play
qualifiers at Ultimate Bet already too, but I don't have any of the
details yet. I'll update this page with details soon, but playing at
Ultimate Bet is a good thing to do. They're a great poker site.
