Season 7 of much acclaimed World Poker Tour is kicked off on May 23, 2008 at Casino Barcelona, Spain on May 23, 2008 and reached an exciting conclusion concluded April 23, 2009 at The Bellagio, Las Vegas.

The sixth event of the popular World Poker Tour’s seventh season was at the majestic location of Festa Al Lago. The seven day tour began on Monday October 20, 2008 and culminated on Saturday, October 26.

The buy in for the event was $15,000. Three hundred sixty eight players took part in the event, battling it out for the top prize. the prize pool itself swelled to $5.4 million.

The top 50 finishers recieved a piece of the prize pool, with $1.4 million going to the winner.

The final table consisted of:

  • Bertrand Grospellier
  • Nam Le
  • Osmin Dardon
  • Nenad Medic
  • Adam Levy
  • Will Mietz
Nam Le almost won with two wins on the first two hands heads up. Le just pushed, Betrand Grospellier called and it was very interesting to see A J beating Elk Y’s Q 3 on a board of 10 9 8 4 5. It was Grospellier who shoved the next hand and Nam Le did not hesitate to make the call with 2 2.

Nam doubled up when A 8 A K Q board just ran out. Nam was at $4 million by that time. But in the end, Bertrand defeated Nam Le in the heads up battle for the top spot and a top prize of $1,411,015..

This was his first first-ever cash haul on the World Poker Tour. Bertrand has also entered into the record book by winning events on both the WPT and European Poker Tour. He is the third player to do this, the first two being Roland de Wolfe and Gavin Griffin. Upon winning, he was overwhelmed with congratulations from all around the circle and fellow players.

Nam Le went away with the coveted second place of $943,215. Third and fourth places went to Osmin Dardon ($506,245) and Nenad Medic ($373,010). Last two positions among the six players are Adam Levy ($266,445) and Will Mietz ($186,510).
