There is Texas Holdem and No Limit Holdem as well as Stud and
Omaha. Tournaments are also available here. There are nine tables in
the poker room at the Mandalay Bay and the wait time on weekends can
sometime be up to 30 minutes. The poker room is a smoke free zone
and has daily poker room rates. This is $115 from Sundays to
Thursdays and $175 on Friday and Saturday. There is also a daily
play requirement of five hours.
The crowd at the Mandalay Bay poker room attracts a younger crowd
than seen at most other Las Vegas poker rooms. It is very
well-maintained and the tables and the chairs are in good condition.
It is quite peaceful and silent too. Also there don’t seem to be too
many really professional players here. The cocktail waitresses are
pretty good-looking but their service is quite slow. Often a drink
can take 30 minutes to arrive. The management is quite efficient and
doesn’t give much opportunity for complaints. They are quick to fill
vacant seats and manage the wait lists well. The dealers are
professional and fast.
