Atlas Poker Room Review

Atlas Poker Merges with ChiliPoker

Here is a snippet from the Press Release:
", the online poker site of Swedish origin, has bought This site was launched in 2006 and its main objective was to conquer the French speaking market. They started out with the support of a great number of professional French poker players, such as David Benyamine, Claude Cohen, Johnatan Fhal and Anthony Lellouche.

With the French legislation turning increasingly restrictive and hostile towards online poker operators, has decided to merge with a European operator. The holding operating take their clientele from more than 8 countries all over the world. "

Chili Poker is not a member of the Prima Poker Room Network. If you are looking for a room where you can play on Prima Poker's Network I recommend Dream Poker.

Overview of the Room

Originally written: July 20th, 2006

Atlas Poker is taking an interesting approach to gathering players towards its room. They have a company motto . . . "Be Sponsored".

So, they have a series of poker events that players can particpate in, and by doing well players can eventually earn their way into a room sponsorship. What's a sponsorship worth?

"ATLAS POKER guarantees the sponsoring of its best online players for 34 international tournaments representing a total prize package of 280000$"

Notice the dollar sign after the amount. Makes me think they're a European-focused room, which is fine. Just makes me chuckle a bit.

The website has options to view it in both English, and French, and they both work correctly. That's at least a sign of a poker room that didn't get their prima site right from the shelf and then abandon it.

The room's bonus is both enticing, and demanding. Players receive a 100% matching bonus of up to, get this . . . $5,000. You have to play it all off within 90 days. The bonus is "played off" at the rate of 20% of your rake, so the more they take, the more they give back.

At 20% of your rake, to get the whole $5,000, you'd have to contribute oh, $25,000 in rake. Hmmm, that's a tall order. Of course you can choose a deposit that's much more reasonable, and bonuses are certainly not the only reason to choose a poker room.
