5 Dogs Poker Room Review

5 Dogs Poker is Closed

Since I first overviewed the site, which was less than impressive, Five Dogs Poker has been removed from the listing of poker operators provided by Microgaming.

Their website www.fivedogspoker.com, is also unresponsive.

Date: May 9th, 2007.

Overview of the Room

The website leaves a little to be desired. Still, it certainly is different. One thing that perks my ears a bit it the flashing $10 Cash Bonus, which I immediately took to mean $10 No Deposit. That's not the case. It's a bonus they give out witha $50 deposit. But, it's a cash bonus, not bonus money. That makes a difference.

The regular welcome bonus is 100% match up to $100, which sounds both familiar and friendly. And new players receive a free entry (or two, depending upon the size of the deposit) into a $4500 Guaranteed tournament.

Existing players receive a 20% reload bonus, and another free entry to a $4500 Guaranteed event.

It sounds like the folks at 5 Dogs are interested in helping new and existing players get some extra time in at the tables, which is fine. I'm probably happier with free tournament entries and the like as promotional items than I am with running drawings, or other promotions where the wealth isn't shared so equally.

The site certainly does lack for poker information. No "current events" like a tournament schedule. No list of games being played at the room, no recaps of the mother network's promotions. Let's say it's completely bare-boned.

The lack of concern, or abilities in the web page make me think that this was a well-intentioned group that isn't quite up to the task of keeping up with the Jone's in the online poker world. Still, the promotions they do have seem like something a player would put together to entice other players.

With prima powering the room, we at least know what to expect when it comes to the software and it's features, and player traffic. Perhaps the bonuses are worth testing, but I'm sure you can find a more professional room on the prima network as well.
