Poker Room.com Review |
 |
|
|
PokerRoom.com is part of the OnGame network, and does not accept US players.
They have a No Downlaod (Mac-freindly) version of the poker room, as well as a PC friendly download version. They welcome new players with a $100 deposit bonus.
PokerRoom.com has earned the eCogra Seal of Approval. |

In A Nutshell: |
You can get into the action right away, from almost anywhere with the No Download version of the room. PokerRoom.com has invested some time on their website, so they are worth a visit, especially for the hand statistics in their Poker School section.
They offer a wide range of promotions, including some events reserved for new players.
|
Bonuses and Promotions |
PokerRoom.com offers both bonuses to their players, and a series of promotions. For instance, there are certain poker room events that are only open to new players. These events are both a bonus for new players, and a chance for people just coming into online poker to get a feel for the game without having to fend of the veteren players.
PokerRoom.com is a room that believes in reload bonuses, so once you've joined the room, there will be opportunities to gather some more bonus money when reloading your account.
|
Tournaments |
PokerRoom.com takes their tournament play seriously. They have the regular tournaments that you'll find online, Sit and Go's, freerolls, etc. But they also have a couple of interesting tournament poker twists.
The room hosts what they call "Team Tournaments" where members of different poker teams compete in a tournament. The events are designed so that players will never be at the same table as a fellow teammate which removes any collusion problems. It's certainly an interesting twist.
Like the Prima Poker rooms, players can create their own private tournaments. They have control over things like the payout structure, the betting style, the blinds structure, whether it is a SnG or a scheduled event, etc. In fact, it's a pretty powerful tool, so if you are interested in a room where you can set up private gatherings, Pokerroom.com offers that ability.
PokerRoom.com also has some high stakes online tournament action. Each month they've been running what they call the "Grand". There are qualifiers that start at a buck, but if you were to try and buy-in directly it'll cost $1,040. That kind of entry fee is designed to create some HUGE prize pools.
|
Software |
The highlight of the PokerRoom.com software is that there is a perfectly acceptable No Download version of the room. This makes it one of the more convenient rooms online for people who want to play from somewhere other than their home PC.
The customizable tournaments feature is nice as well.
PokerTracker does work with the OnGame network, but only for the ring games.
All in all, like almost any software there are some interesting, usable features, and some things that just aren't as smooth as I might like.
|
Player Numbers and Skill |
Being part of a network of poker rooms, there are enough players at the tables to fill SnG's at a reasonable rate and provide a decent table selection. Do keep in mind that US players are not allowed.
While PokerRoom.com does offer casino games, the focus of the room is poker. So, you are likely to find some players that can play poker. That means this is no absolute aquarium in terms of finding fish. But, it doesn't mean the games are unbeatable either. Certainly, if you can hold your own at Full Tilt or PokerStars, PokerRoom.com offers some opportunity for you.
|
Overall Grade - B |
The fact that they don't take US players shrinks the player pool. And, there are some areas where I feel the software could improve, so I'm giving PokerRoom.com a solid B.
They certainly aren't a bad poker room, and I can recommend them for several different types of players. But, I don't think they have everything that some of the other rooms offer.
