Paul Wolfe - Full Tilt Poker

Paul Wolfe

   - by Oliver Gaywood

Unlike like the wild variety who live in a pack for security, Paul Wolfe works with a pack of cards for excitement. Previously he was a successful business man before he turned to the more exhilarating world of poker for a career. After moving to Florida at the age of 20, Wolfe has owned both a coffee shop and a swimwear store before he threw in the towel for his new life in poker. He remains in both this location – more specifically he lives in Apollo Beach – and in this vocation.

His first major tournaments came in 2002 and he looked comfortable against the pro players from the off. His maiden attempt, in the Casino Europa Invitational Tournament in March of that year, Wolfe devoured the competition and came home with the big prize. He collected several more small cash rewards that year before snaring his biggest to date in November 2003.

The venue was Showdown at the Sands and Wolfe showed he was not easily intimidated when he entered the $10,000 buy in No Limit Hold ‘em event. He made it to the final day, and the final table, as chip leader; however, he eventually finished fourth overall claiming over $100,000 in winnings. He was bettered by Annand Ramdin, Brian Haveson and, the winner of $1,000,000, John Myung.

Of his 17 major tournament cashes, 15 have been playing No Limit Hold ‘em whilst the remaining two have been in the Pot Limit version of that game.

In his relatively short time on the circuit, Wolfe has earner over $300,000 from tournaments and has collected from both the World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour amongst others.

He has starred on TV in the Poker Royale: the World Poker Players Association Championship where he ended up in third place behind Lee Markholt and winner James van Alstyne.

He was also called up for the next series of Poker Royal to join the men of the game stake their case as they took on the female challengers in Poker Royale: Battle of the Sexes. Wolfe did the men proud as one of the highest point scorers of the event after winning the third preliminary table.

Wolfe was involved in an incredible hand against Chau Giang in the Poker Royale tournament and a clip of that can be found online at YouTube.

He lives in Florida and enjoys the perks of the internet game that allows him to play from home and stay with his only cub, daughter Kaley. He can be found online playing under the banner of Full Tilt Poker.
