Party Poker Points Store Closing

Things have changed at Party Poker over the last few months, and it looks like at least one more change is in store. I just recevied word that as of the 16th of January 2007, they will be removing all merchandise from their comp point ( "Party" ) store.

I had noticed that the merchandise they were stocking was dwindling. At one point I had my eyes on a set of Sklansky books, but after trying to order them I found out that their system wasn't prepared to accept my mailing address. Although I thought it was odd, I set the task of ordering from the comp point store for another day when I had more patience.

Visiting there again today, I see that a great deal of the merchandise I had my eye on has disappeared from the shelves.

The company email states that "We are making changes to our Party Store as a result of the changed environment that PartyPoker.com is currently dealing with in the U.S." I think that's a bit odd. Why stop your comp points system when you still have thousands of players that deserve some form of player rewards for time spent at the tables. And besides, who would be ordering the Rugby balls? Most likely, someone from outside the US.

That doesn't matter though, the reality is that Party is closing the comp point store, and any player who has points to spend ought to do so now. While Party states that unspent points will indeed remain in a player's account, they also go on to say that "There is no guarantee, however, that these points will not expire or be removed at a later date."

So, players may choose not to spend their points, but there is no chance to save them. Party reserves the right to just wipe them out at a later date if they wish.

Any questions regarding the decision can be addressed to Party Poker:
