Party Poker - No US Players

There is a piece of legislation on the desk of the president of the United States, that once he signs will become law. That doesn't make today any more special than many other days, except this particular piece of paper has the Unlawful Internet Gambling Act on it. And when that becomes law, things like playing poker on the internet will change.

Party Poker has decided that in order to play it safe, and comply with the law as best they can, they will be closing the accounts of all US players.

Of course, with a company the size of Party Poker, there is little concern that players will have any trouble receiving all of the funds due to them. This decision is not so upsetting because of the potential of lost player accounts as it is because of the loss of convenience for the players. With so many poker players from the States playing at Party, a lot of their player-base will be lost.

Many players will be looking for new "homes", after having played at Party for years.

There is a possible effect on the mega-tournament that Party had been promoting, the Part Poker Monstor.

As I find out more about how the room will alter this promotion (based on the loss of players and the lower than expected funds raised for the event), I will post information.
