Full Tilt Poker is getting set to run their next incarnation of their popular FTOPS poker tournaments. This time around the action kicks off on the 23rd of April, and continues into the month of May. Along the way players will have a chance at joining on poker tournament action that hits the standard games (Read: No Limit Hold'em) as well as Pot Limit Omaha, mixed games, short-handed games, Razz and heds-Up action.

There is $18,000,000 in guaranteed prize money up for grabs in the tournament series! Be sure to check out Full Tilt Poker for details.

Jan 9th 2010

I wanted to put up a note to recognize the passing of one of the more colorful poker players who rode the television waves playing at the WSOP in the boom years. In 2003 he made the final table of the main event of the World Series of Poker.

Amir Vahedi has passed away due to possible complications of diabetes. We wish the best for his family, and are saddened by the poker world's loss.

World Series Of Poker Action has Begun

Thursday May 28th is the start of the action for the general public with the $40,000 buy-in NLHE event, and the action doesn't stop until July 15th. You can get in on it, at a greatly reduced price by qualifying at an online poker room.

Bodog is running a seris of satellite events that lead to a seat in the WSOP, with buy-in starting at one dollar. If you're new to the room, obviously they have a first deposit bonus and all the usual trimmings (110% up to $500!). If you're curious . . .

Here is what it's like to qualify for the WSOP through Bodog.

$300,000 in Reload Freerolls at PokerStars

Beginning June 1 until June 27, players depositing at PokerStars should use the deposit code ‘RF300’.

This is available to all players – whether first time depositors, or those reloading their accounts. Players will then be eligible to play as many $300,000 Reload Freerolls as they want.

The freerolls will be running five times a day awarding cash and tickets to the Freeroll Finals.

May 6th through May 17th

It's ON!!!! Right now the tournament action is happening at Full Tilt Poker in the form of the dual FTOPS XII series. Check out their website for a complete schedule of events, which range from Razz to a multi-day holdem tournament. And while there is substantial buy-in action going on, and a guaranteed prize pool for each event, there is also a "Mini" version of the event.

The "mini-events" have a buy-in of 1/10th the major event. So EVERYONE can get in on the action, no matter the bankroll!

April 16th - On Sunday they're running the next $50,000 Guaranteed at Carbon Poker. Carbon does accept players from the United States. The reason this is news-worthy?

They're just starting this tournament, and the overlay has been fantastic so far. So, if you're a tournament player, you're looking at a $50,000 guaranteed event where the poker room is putting in about half of the prize money. Hit it while it's hot. Shortly, there will be more players showing up, and less overlay. Money is where you find it, but it doesn't last forever . . .

Carbon Poker new $50,000 Guaranteed Sunday Tournament

April 2nd - Spring is in the air, and at PokerStars that means, well, more poker! this time they're offering it in the form of the Spring Championship of Online Poker which is a tiered set of tournaments that cover a wide range of poker games and stakes. All of them come with a guaranteed prize pool, of course.

Check out our article on the Spring Championship of Online Poker for more details, including a list of events and the different buy-ins associated with each of the tournaments.

March 25th - another of the original online poker rooms has closed thier doors. Today we received the announcement that Bugsy's Club Poker Room has closed their virtual doors. Players are being transferred over to PokerStars.

February 26th - the Bluff Poker Tour has a stop tonight at Pitbull Poker. The Bluff Poker Tour is a series of online poker tournaments that take place at several venues between Nov 2, 2008 to May 7, 2009. games are held on Thursday Nights at 9:15 EST.

Once a month the tour will have a special Sunday tournament, and they take place at 8:30pm. The tournament have an $11 buy-in fee, and tonight's event at Pitbull Poker features an extra $1,000 added on to the prize pool.

I'm not sure how many participants are expected for the event, but even if there are 100 players, the money added by the room would essentially double the prize pool. That, is fantastic overlay.

Besides the overlay, and the fact that I haven't been to Pitbull Poker in many, many moons, my attention was drawn to this event because the PIC Club is involved, and their list of pros includes some household names. So, the tournament is a money-added, super overlay event with a chance to bang heads against some Poker Hall of Famers, for $11.

I like it.

For more information, read my article - The PIC club - deposit money at online poker rooms.

February 25th, 2009 - Tom "Durr" Dwan Heads Up Challenge Begins

If you haven't heard it by now, probably the most exciting show in online poker is the Durr Heads Up Challenge. Action has started, and over the course of the first 3,952 hands, Durrrr is up a measely $150,000.

The biggest pot of the series so far went to Durr. It was worth $166,000.

January 29th, 2009 - Doyle's Room moves to the Cake Poker Network

Probably the biggest news story in online poker at the beginning of the year is the move that Doyle's Room made from the Prima Poker network, which had been blocking United States players, to the Cake Poker Network. Cake poker is U.S. friendly, and that makes a difference to Doyle.

Look for a review of Doyle's Room, and the Cake Poker Network in general, to be coming shortly.
