One of the new table games being offered by Vegas Technology (English Harbour Casino) is Five Card Mulligan, a poker-based casino game that is played against the dealer.

Play Five Card Mulligan

In the game, both the dealer and the player are dealt five cards to begin play. The player then has the choice to either keep and play the hand they were dealt, or to "take a mulligan" and receive five new cards. You cannot choose certain cards to discard and certain cards to keep. It's an all or none proposition.

If you decide on taking a Mulligan, you are required to place an additional "raise" bet (which is the same size as your original bet).

Now, the dealer turns over his hand. As in most house games, there is a set of rules that governs the dealer's actions. If his hand is Ace High or better, he stands. If his hand is King High or less he takes a Mulligan himself.

Finally, the dealer's hand and the player's hand are compared. Bets are either collected, or paid out according to a pay table posted on the screen.

Bets in Five Card Mulligan

There are a couple of bets involved in the game. The first is the ante, and after placing it the hand can begin. There is also a chance to place a second "bonus" bet. You can see from the screenshot that the bonus paytable is more rewarding than the ante paytable. But, bonus bets are only paid out on the first hand a player is dealt.

If a player decides to take a Mulligan, the bonus bet is forfeited.

The third bet is the raise, which is paid in order to receive a Mulligan redraw. It is equal to the ante bet.

English Harbour has a casino game tournament section of the casino. Five Card Mulligan is one of the games that they will be hosting a tournament with during February, from the 9th through the 15th. There is $5,000 up for grabs, plus any rebuy monies.
