Caribbean Sun Poker Review. One of the Crypto rooms, I recently visited Sun Poker to see what they had to offer.

Sun Poker Review

Sun Poker When I was playing at Sun Poker the other night, there were roughly 1,200 players in the room. This was at 9pm or so in the Eastern time zone, which is prime time for a lot of poker rooms. Oddly, when I stopped in for an afternoon visit, there were 4,000 players. This makes me think that there are a lot of European poker players in the room, and that no matter how you slice it, Sun Poker is officially a small poker room.

There are a lot of interesting things about Sun Poker. The first is that the room offers tables in three different currencies. You can play at a table using Euros, GB Pounds, or US Dollars.

While it wasn't unusual to find someone from San Diego playing at the Pounds tables, for the most part, you could try to pick the location of your opponents by choosing a table with their local currency. What good is this you might ask?

I really enjoy trying to find the players from London who are playing at 3AM their time, and are hopefully more than a pint or two into their evening. After all, table selection is a very important part of the game.

Oddly, even though the room had far fewer players than many other poker rooms, I had no more tourble finding a table to suit my tastes than I would at Absolute or some of the other rooms that boast two or three times the player count. Perhaps the fun tables are Sun Poker aren't as popular. No matter what the reason, finding a suitable table was not a chore.

Another interesting feature of the poker room is that they remove the betting cap at the limit tables when the play is heads up. This is the way I learned to play limit poker, and for me it is an inviting feature of the room. Once the hand is down to two opponents, they may raise and re-raise until their hearts are content. This is a definite plus if after the river card you have an agressive opponent, and also the nuts.

Player Bonuses

The poker room has been running a monthly bonus for all of their players. The bonus is released after a set amount of play at the real money tables. Instead of tracking raked hands, Sun Poker uses a system of "My Poker Points" instead. If a hand is raked $1 or more, players receive a full point for the hand. If the pot is raked less than $1, players receive 1/4 of a point.

This means that if you're playing the $1/2 tables, it could take an awefully long time to play off a bonus. It also means that you'll find players at the $3/6 tables that might having poker skills more suited to the $1/2 levels. Good and bad in all things.

Banking at Sun Poker

There was a recent change in the banking at Sun Poker that affected new players. The eCash-based banking that the room uses had a system in place that was a bit inconvenient for new players. After making a deposit, they had to wait for a PIN number to arrive in a letter via snail mail in order to cash out. That letter took perhaps a week to arrive.

So, that meant new players had their money tied up to their Sun Poker account for a week, until the letter arrived. Obviously once anyone had thier PIN, they could cash out at will. So, it really was something that only affected new players.

Well, that has changed. Which is good news, because the PIN issue was one of the few things that held me back from more fully endorsing the room. Now that players have immediate access to the money in their accounts, I'm bumping up the overall grade of the room.

If you plan to do any fishing on the crypto network, Sun Poker is your best bet.

Sun Poker's Overall Grade: B+
