In A Nutshell: |
Bugsy's Club is the online poker room arm of the company that
runs Poker School Online and Poker Pages.com, and as a result, they
have a lot of newer and greener players fresh out of the Poker
School playing there.
This is Bugsy Club's biggest perk. I'm not the
strongest or the most imaginative player in the world, but I found
the players at the no limit tables at Bugsy's to be weak, tight, and
unimaginative, all of which add up to big profits for a low limit.
|
Bonuses and Promotions |
Bugsy's Club has taken things up to a new level as far as their welcome bonus is concerned. With other major rooms pulling back their bonuses from earlier highs, Bugsy's has decided to move up into the lead by offering a $1,000 max welcome bonus to new players.
The bonus, thankfully, does not need to be released all at one time. Instead, it is released in increments of $10. This way players can earn their bonus piece by piece, instead of having to spend months before they can accumulate enough comp points to release the entire bonus at once.
|
Tournaments |
The tournaments at Bugsy's are geared towards beginning players with limited bankrolls. You'll find a lot of scheduled events with smaller guaranteed prize pools of $100, $300, $500. there are bigger events, but nothing to rival a PokerStars $1,000,000 Sunday event.
The flip-side of course, is that the events at Bugsy's Club do not require $215 to buy into the game.

Software |
There is nothing particularly inspired or exciting about the Bugsy's Club poker software. It's about as plain vanilla as any online poker software I've seen yet. There are no avatars for the players; your name is simply across the chair where you're sitting. The lounge area is lacking a countdown to show when each tournament starts, which is a disappointment to me, since I can never remember what the abbreviations for each timezone mean. I was going to play in a multitable tournament tonight, but didn't feel like doing the research necessary to figure out what time it started.
BugsysClub poker software does have one bright spot though: the note-taking and statistics are excellent. And since it's a low-traffic online poker room, you can develop pretty substantial notes on your competition fairly easily and quickly, since you're running into the same people all the time. This factor, added to the predictability of the lower limit players at Bugsy's, make it one of the more profitable possibilities for someone with a small bankroll.
|
Player Numbers and Skill |
Bugsy's Club offers a players' forum on their website that is fairly active, and they have poker leagues which are also pretty active. In fact, if you're interested in the community aspect of online poker, Bugsy's Club is very likely one of the top picks you could make. The players are usually friendly and willing to chat. (Unlike at some of the larger online poker sites where the players seem put out with you if you even tell them all good luck.)
|
Overall Grade - B |
The software is a definite C, but the play experience gets an A because of the caliber of play and the community aspects. Bugsy's Club is the perfect poker room online for a certain type of player: a low limit player with some imagination and talent, or a low limit player who wants to get to know other online poker players and learn with them.
