| "The Poker Players Alliance (PPA), a grassroots organization of more than 160,000 poker enthusiasts, announced today that former United States Senator Alfonse D'Amato has joined the PPA to serve as Chairman of the Board and help lead efforts in Washington D.C. to protect the game of poker."

That quote is from the PPA press release, the emphasis is mine.
The Poker Player's Alliance is a non-profit organization that is taking on the task of protecting poker players' rights. And, with the recent changes in US law, this seems like quite the task.
The Board of Directors for this group includes Howard Lederer, Greg Raymer, and Chris Ferguson. Chairman of the Board is former United States Senator Alfonse D'Amato. This is a serious organization, working towards a goal of having over a million members to voice their opinions on online poker legislation in Washington.
Membership in the Poker Player's Alliance is free.
FullTilt Poker PPA bonus
With Chris Ferguson and Howard Lederer involved, it is not a surprise that Full Tilt is supporting the PPA as best they can. The online poker room is offering a bonus to poker players who support the PPA.
They have several different bonuses that are available depending upon the level of support players offer the PPA. Those adding the names to the roster of PPA members will receive a seat in a freeroll tournament. Those pledging monies to help support the organization with receive bonus money from FullTilt.
You can visit Full Tilt Poker and look over their PPA Bonus page for more details.
Poker Stars PPA Freerolls
Every night,
Poker Stars is running a set of three freeroll tournaments. Each event has $5,000 in prize money, and anyone who participates in these events will be given a free introductory membership into the PPA. The focus of these freerolls is to acquire new members for the PPA, so players who are already PPA members are not eligible for these tournaments
If you're interested in more information about the PPA, you can visit their homepage at www.pokerplayersalliance.org/.
