Update on October 20,2005
Unfortunately, we didn't have enough players show up to actually
have the tournament. I was disappointed by the software at Superior
for pulling the tourney immediately at the start time. Seems to me
like there ought to be a grace period if there aren't enough people,
because I know people who were still registering.
There is talk that the tournament will be rescheduled for a
Wednesday night. If and when it's rescheduled, I'll post another
update here.
This is more of an announcement than anything else. There will be a
fundraiser tournament to benefit Kristen Richter at
Superior Poker on October 15, 2005 at 8pm EST. The buy-in is
$50, and half the money goes toward the prize pool, and the other
half goes to the
Kristen Richter Cancer Fund.
About Kristen and Bernie
Bernie Richter is a long time member of the online gambling
community, and he's one of the nicest and most helpful webmasters I
know. I've had the pleasure of dealing with him both via email and
over the telephone, and the goodness and warmth of the man is
infectious and impossible to not notice. I haven't had the good
fortune to meet Kristin, but I can't imagine that she's not as
wonderful a person as Bernie.
Kristen found out she had glioblastoma brain cancer earlier this
year, and has undergone brain surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation
treatment. She's shown huge signs of victory over this situation,
but she still expects to need treatment every other month, and the
funds from this tournament will help defray those costs for her and
Bernie.
I am not an affiliate of Superior Poker, and the link here goes
directly to their site. I stand to make no money from this at all in
fact; my only goal is to provide Kristen and Bernie with what little
help I can by giving them some exposure on my site. They're good
people, and they deserve some support. So please consider
participating in the tournament.
I don't have an account at Superior Poker yet, but when I do, I'll
post what my user name is there so you can say hi.
And I will pay any winnings I receive from the tournament directly
to the Cancer Fund as well, and would encourage anyone else to make
the same pledge.
