Poker is one of those games where you can win big money, but it is usually done by risking big money. Other games, like slot machines, allow players to risk a few bucks with the potential return of hundreds, thousands, or even millions. That adds quite a bit of excitement to the game, and poker rooms know that.
So they created the Bad Beat Jackpot, and jackpot poker was started. There are even Bad Beat Jackpot tables online (you can find them at Party Poker for instance). At one of these tables, if a bad enough beat takes place, a jackpot is awarded to the players at the table.
But, bad beat jackpot tables are cash game tables, and poker rooms wanted to create a jackpot for tournament players. Welcome the newest jackpot poker idea . . .

Jackpot Sit and Go Tournaments
Online poker players love Sit and go tournaments, and now if a palyer can string together several SnG victories, they can earn a jackpot prize! Some of the SnG Jackpots that are being offered by poker rooms on the iPoker network include:
Maui - $15,000 Progressive Jackpot Sit 'n' Go
Being offered at
Titan Poker, this jackpot is awarded to a player that wins
five consecutive $5.75 Maui SnG tournaments. This is not automatically tracked by the poker room, so players are required to keep track of the tournament numbers and submit them when claiming the jackpot.
Poker room personel then review the tournaments to look for chip dumping, collusion, and to make sure it really was five vistories in a row. Then the jackpot is awarded to the skillful (lucky?) player.
Two more notes on the Maui Jackpot Tournaments . . . there is a consolation prize that is offered. If a player places first or second in five consecutve tournaments, they can claim a $200 prize. Also, the jackpot is progressive. After four weeks of not being cliamed, the prize pool begins to climb $3,500 a week until the jackpot is hit.
Rio - $25,000 Jackpot Sit 'n' Go
The Rio is the next step up in limits, so to speak. The winner of six consecutive $20+$3 "Rio"
SnG tournaments wins a $25,000 jackpot. After four weeks this jackpot grows by $5,000 a week. There is a second place prize of $300 for the Rio tournaments.
Fort Knox - $100,000 Jackpot Sit 'n' Go
This is the biggie, and requires a player to win six consecutive $50+$7 “Fort Knox" Jackpot Sit ‘N’ Go” tournaments. The buy-in for these games is much higher, but so is the jackpot. A second place award is also available for this tournament level, netting anyone who can finish first or second six times in a row a nice $750 bonus.
Dirty Dozen - Jackpot Sit 'n' Go
This is the baby of the line-up. It is offered at Noble Poker. Win a series of four consecutive SnG tournaments at the $2+$0.40 “Dirty Dozen" level, and win a $2,000 Jackpot.
There is no prize for second place finishes in this tournament series.
If you plan on taking a shot at any of these jackpots remember, the "system" doesn't keep track of these results automatically. You must keep track of things like the tournament numbers and the times and dates of your play to help the poker room team verify the results. All in all though, it's a small price to pay for several thousand in bonus cash.
